"Shake it Off" Taylor Swift For the last blog I chose to write about "Shake it Off" by Taylor Swift. I used to really like this song, but now I can not listen to the song anymore. This is one of Taylor's most popular songs, and it has defenitly been overplayed. She released this song in 2014 with the album 1989. She had a lot of hit singles on that album, she even won the Grammy Awards for album of the year with 1989. On this album Taylor has more pop type of songs, she have kinda lost her good girl image. And she does not really sing country songs anymore. One of the things I remember best about "Shake it Off" is the music video. There is a lot of things going on in the video, lots of colors, outfits and dancing. She have said in interviews that "Shake it Off" is about being okay with not being cool, or feeling like you do not fit in. It is also about all the critics Taylor have gotten from the media after being to open about her love life...

"Tim McGraw" Taylor Swift For this week i choose to write about "Tim McGraw" by Taylor Swift. I really like Taylor Swifts music, especially her older stuff. Even tho I am not a huge fan of country music, I still really like her soft kind of country songs. Taylor Swift started her music career when she was ver young, this song was released in 2006 when Taylor was only 16 years old. Later on in her career she have experimented with different types of music, and found her own style. She still does a lot of country music, but a lot more pop music. But at this time she was still very young, and had a very innocent image. The song is about a summer romance, and how a country song by Tim McGraw brings back memories from her summer romance. The song is very slow and soft, she plays most of the song on her guitar and it is easy to hear her voice. The song did really well, and Taylor won both BMI country Awards for award winning song, and CMT Music Awards Breakthrough of th...

"Jump" Van Halen For the listening blog this week i chose to write about "Jump" by Van Halen. This is a song I have heard many times before. I think most people in our class have heard this song many songs before too. It is a super popular song, that they still play a lot today. Especially at sporting events and other bigger events, the song have also been used a lot in movies, tv-shows and other places. Van Halen have released a lot of famous songs, but jump is probably their best known song.  The song was released in 1984, and have won a lot of prices. van Halen is also very well known for their looks. They are a typical 80s rock band with crazy outfits, big hair, eyeliner, and lots of fire and smoke while they are preforming. They did actually win MTVs Video Music Award for best stage performance.  The song is very fun, it has a quick tempo and it is very easy to remember. The lyrics are easy to recognize and sing along with. I think that is part of the reason ...

"The Message"  Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five I was really excited when I saw that "The message" was one of the song choices for this weeks blog post. I really like this song, and I have listened to it a lot before. The song is really cool and fun. the song was recorded in New York in 1982, and it is considered as one of the first hiphop songs. In the lyrics they describe life in the city poverty, and how children born in the ghetto easily get into crime, because that is the only option they have. The song became extremely popular, and have been sampled and used by several other hiphop artists  later. They have also used the song in movies, tv shows, video games and etc. The song was ranked by NME as track of the year in 1982, rolling stones ranked "The Message" as nr 51 in their list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. And it has also been voted as the nr 3 rap song. I think it is really cool that the song is almost 40 years old, but still is...

"It's Too Late" by Carole King This week i chose to write about Carole King, and her song "It is Too Late."  Carole King is a female singer and songwriter, she was born in 1942, and started her music career in the 60s. She is famous for stapeling the idea that songwriters should preform their own  stuff. At this time it was still normal that songwriters sold their song to other artists, instead of writing and singing their own songs.  In 1971 did she release the single "It's Too late." The song became super famous and it was #1 for 5 weeks, the song has also been the #1 record 15 times, in 6 years. I really liked the song, Carole King has a really nice voice, and the background music is very harmonic. The 70s is often referred to as the me decade,  we have two main groups in music, its music for teens and music for the boomers. Nostalgia is also really important in the music industry, the 60s music died with The Beatels, Jimi Hendrix and etc. We a...

Like a Rolling Stone" Bob Dylan For this weeks blog I wanted to write about "Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan. This is a very famous and well known song that I have heard many times before. It did actually peak as number two in the U.S in 2004 and 2011, and is listed as one of the top 500 songs of all time, by Rolling Stone. The song has also been covered by many other famous artists later, like Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and Green Day. The song was released in 1965 by Columbia records. "Like a rolling Stone" is one of Bob Dylan's best known songs. He was born in 1941, but did not become famous before the early 60's. His songs became anthems for the civil rights and anti war movements. The song is 6 minutes long, and has a very heavy electric sound. Columbia records did not want to release the song, but they did it anyways. the song was very personal to Bob Dylan, he wrote it after he came back from tour in England, and he was very unhappy wit...

Even if it is an old song I think a lot of people my age have heard this song many times before. The song was released in 1963 by an american girl group (Veronica Bennet, Estelle Bennet, Nedra Talley) all from New York. The girls had been singing together since they were teenagers, they were first known as "the darling sisters" but when they got signed by Philles Record they changed their name to "the ronettes." The song "Be my Baby" is their most famous song, and it is considered one of the best song of the 60s. The song was also included in the Grammy hall of fame.  The song is up tempo, and fun. Veronica, Estelle, and Nedra all do a really good job singing together. Their voices harmonize very good, and it is hard to hear that there are several people singing at the sam...
