"Jump" Van Halen
For the listening blog this week i chose to write about "Jump" by Van Halen. This is a song I have heard many times before. I think most people in our class have heard this song many songs before too. It is a super popular song, that they still play a lot today. Especially at sporting events and other bigger events, the song have also been used a lot in movies, tv-shows and other places. Van Halen have released a lot of famous songs, but jump is probably their best known song. The song was released in 1984, and have won a lot of prices. van Halen is also very well known for their looks. They are a typical 80s rock band with crazy outfits, big hair, eyeliner, and lots of fire and smoke while they are preforming. They did actually win MTVs Video Music Award for best stage performance. The song is very fun, it has a quick tempo and it is very easy to remember. The lyrics are easy to recognize and sing along with. I think that is part of the reason why the song did so great, and that it still is a very famous and popular song.
Nice job on your blog post, It is a song that I feel like most have probably heard quite alot, it for sure is payed in movies and and forms of entertainment quite alot now and will probably remain a classic. van halen was interesting but it is so fun to look back at there style and just how different it is.
SvarSlettNice blog post! I love this song. However, I find it interesting how many people have never considered the true meaning of the song. A little while back, I decided to look it up. As it turns out, according to lead singer David Lee Roth, it is about a man who was about to kill himself by jumping off a building. Kind of morbid, but still a great song!
SvarSlettVan Halen is definitely a legend. After reading your review I thought of Motley Crue and the movie about them on Netflix. The eye liner, big hair, and crazy outifits coupled with large amounts of alcohol and cocaine are what made this era of music stand out. To be a musician during the 70's and 80's seemed like it took its toll.
