Like a Rolling Stone" Bob Dylan
For this weeks blog I wanted to write about "Like a Rolling Stone" by Bob Dylan. This is a very famous and well known song that I have heard many times before. It did actually peak as number two in the U.S in 2004 and 2011, and is listed as one of the top 500 songs of all time, by Rolling Stone. The song has also been covered by many other famous artists later, like Jimi Hendrix, The Rolling Stones and Green Day. The song was released in 1965 by Columbia records. "Like a rolling Stone" is one of Bob Dylan's best known songs. He was born in 1941, but did not become famous before the early 60's. His songs became anthems for the civil rights and anti war movements. The song is 6 minutes long, and has a very heavy electric sound. Columbia records did not want to release the song, but they did it anyways. the song was very personal to Bob Dylan, he wrote it after he came back from tour in England, and he was very unhappy with the direction his career was taking him. He was considering quiting music for good, but "Like a Rolling Stone" changed it all for him.
Nice job Cornelia! This song is a great one! I agree, this song is has a good tone to it. It has some fun new sounds from the electric instruments. The vocals of "Like a Rolling Stone" are very interesting as well. This song is a classic of Bob Dylan. This song helped Bob Dylan get his career going.
