 "The Message"  Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five

I was really excited when I saw that "The message" was one of the song choices for this weeks blog post. I really like this song, and I have listened to it a lot before. The song is really cool and fun. the song was recorded in New York in 1982, and it is considered as one of the first hiphop songs. In the lyrics they describe life in the city poverty, and how children born in the ghetto easily get into crime, because that is the only option they have. The song became extremely popular, and have been sampled and used by several other hiphop artists  later. They have also used the song in movies, tv shows, video games and etc. The song was ranked by NME as track of the year in 1982, rolling stones ranked "The Message" as nr 51 in their list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. And it has also been voted as the nr 3 rap song. I think it is really cool that the song is almost 40 years old, but still is popular by kids today. I was surprised when i first found out how old this song really is, because it could easily have been something they made today.
