Be My Baby - The Ronettes
I chose to write about "Be My Baby" by The Ronettes for this weeks listening blog. I really liked the song, I have heard this song many times before. Even if it is an old song I think a lot of people my age have heard this song many times before. The song was released in 1963 by an american girl group (Veronica Bennet, Estelle Bennet, Nedra Talley) all from New York. The girls had been singing together since they were teenagers, they were first known as "the darling sisters" but when they got signed by Philles Record they changed their name to "the ronettes." The song "Be my Baby" is their most famous song, and it is considered one of the best song of the 60s. The song was also included in the Grammy hall of fame. The song is up tempo, and fun. Veronica, Estelle, and Nedra all do a really good job singing together. Their voices harmonize very good, and it is hard to hear that there are several people singing at the same time. It almost sounds like there is only one person singing, and the other voices are instruments in the background.
I like this song a lot too. It is very nice to be listening to songs that are familiar. It sounds very nice and all of the harmonizing is really cool. The sound wall thing we were talking about in class with this song is really neat to hear too. I have never heard anything quite like this song before. Good take.
SvarSlettHey Cornelia, I like how you went the extra mile to give some back story to the song. With knowing the background history, it makes a lot of sense why things like them changing their name happen. I personally love groups that can harmonize voices together really well. (It makes the song sound so much more harmonious)
SvarSlettI really enjoy this song as well. I grew up listening to it, so it was fun to listen to it in class. I liked the fact that you learned more information about the group and talked about it in your blog post. I thought it was cool to learn a little bit more about each individual member. Overall great job on this blog post.
